Sinusitis is an inflammation of the sinuses. It is often caused by bacterial (germ) infection. Sometimes, viruses and fungi (molds) cause it. People with weak immune systems are more likely to develop bacterial or fungal sinus infection.
The four main symptoms of sinusitis are:
Pain: Pain, tenderness, or swelling around the eyes, cheeks, or forehead
Runny nose: A stuffy or runny nose that produces thick, yellow, or green mucus
Pressure: Pressure or congestion in the nasal cavity
Fever: A high temperature of 100.4°F (38°C) or more.
